Tenor and soprano saxophonist Wayne Shorter returns to USC with his quartet for a night of exceptional jazz.
Wayne Shorter has been one of the most original
instrumentalists and composers in jazz for nearly 40 years and has
created an influential body of work that has established him as one of
music's most prolific recording artists.
For many years,
Shorter has succeeded in intermingling the popular and the progressive.
The quality of that juxtaposition has resulted in his reputation as
both daring band leader and consummate modernist. Shorter has earned
these accolades through his ability to improvise musically and
creatively for more than four decades.
The winner of three
Grammys, he has also received credit for feature saxophone performances
in the motion pictures “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “The Fugitive.” Wayne
recently joined forces with the innovative jazz artist Herbie Hancock
to release their “1 + 1.”
