Anton Schwartz at LACMA

Anton Schwartz
Another lovely day of
jazz at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art)! Big crowd came out
this past Friday for the sounds of Anton Schwartz. Anton is a tenor
player born in raised in the right place, New York City. My first
encounter with Anton was actually in the Big Apple. He had a Monday
night gig at the Blue Note and my good friend Willie Jones was playing
drums with him that evening.
On this evening, I
caught the last set and the music was warm and pleasing. Anton was
backed up by some cats that I only assume are from New York as well,
but they as well are great players. Lots of energy, especially from the
pianist, who they tell me is only nineteen years old. The whole rhythm
section had a great time playing together, just what a bandleader
needs, harmonious synchronicity! I am sure that you will enjoy
listening to Anton do his thing. Charlie Owens said, “The music sounds
great tonight”.
If you would like to check out more of this young tenor player, check out his site here!
Take care,
